Redefining the mass solar module manufacturing scene with a monocrystalline only focus, LONGi solar is steadily gaining many admirers. In an industry where Chinese dominance by volume has previously been frowned upon, such admiration is only ever earned through developmental success and consumer confidence.

Manufacturer:  LONGi Solar.

Series: Hi-MO 3, Hi-MO 4, Hi-MO X.

Variants:  Monocrystalline.

Considering such a steady stream of growing admires, the 2020 range of LONGi Solar panels provide excellent insight as to how LONGi solar is staking a claim as a global leader.

As many individual variables exist within one’s selection criteria, it’s essential to get a sense of the different LONGi solar panels available and how all modules contribute to the overall LONGi Solar ranking according to the Solar Review Solar Module Assessment Criteria.

Note; Residential 60-cell (or equivalent) solar panels considered only.

Mono options.

The evolution of the residential 60-cell solar module is now the 120-half cell solar panel, and it appears as though LONGi Solar has almost entirely ceased production of the once-popular 60-cell format.

Hi-MO 3

Model Qualities Rank Detail
310-325 W, white back sheet, mono PERC
3.9 superior
305-320 W, black back sheet, mono PERC
3.8 superior
310-325 W, glass-glass lamination, bifacial
4.0 superior

Hi-MO 4

Effectively the LONGi Solar Hi-MO 4 range is the same module as the Hi-MO 3 range all but a few adjustments. The most prominent being an increase in cell surface area by 9%, which affects the overall module size. The inclusion of one additional busbar to better accommodate the larger surface area increases the efficiency by a fraction.

Given the difference of dimensions, both Hi-MO 3 and Hi-MO 4 module options would occupy a similar surface area for the desired array output.

Hi-MO 3

Key Differences
  • 305- 325 W
  • 19.6% efficiency max
  • 1672 x 991 x 35mm
  • 16.8 kg
  • 156mm (6.0 x 6.0 in) cells halved

Hi-MO 4

Key Differences
  • 350 -370 W
  • 19.8% efficiency max
  • 1776 x 1052 x 35mm
  • 20 kg.
  • 166mm (6.5 x 6.5 in) cells halved

The Hi-MO 4 is overall a larger solar module achieving the higher watt class.

LONGi Solar panels in the 120 half-cell format are ideally suited for those seeking a high-efficiency modern solar panel offering with superior value in mind (base models).

Longi LR6 60HPH

Shingle-cell mono options.

More commonly referred to as the LONGi Solar Hi-MO X range, the overlapping of monocrystalline wafers has ensured a commercially viable module efficiency surge in recent years.

Retaining similar module dimensions to the Hi MO 3, the LONGi Solar Hi MO X breaks into the 20% module efficiency ranks to provide greater power from a reduced surface area.

Model Qualities Rank Detail
335-355 W, white back sheet, mono PERC
4.0 superior

The Hi-MO X range is ideally suited for projects where space limiting factors exist to ensure maximum power from a nominated area.

LONGi Hi-MO X Solar Review

Disregard perceived negative connotations towards manufacturing origins when it comes to the LONGi solar range. A consistently evolving and established brand pushing the boundaries in the evolution of solar module technology.

With such an advanced product offering for the price, expect LONGi Solar to be a consistent leader by volume and technology developments, going into, and throughout the next decade.

Solar Panels Overall; SUPERIOR
