CertificationsRCM, IEC 62619, IEC 63056, UN 38.3The exact Australian SMILE-G3-S5/B5 + BAT-9.3S datasheet lists AS/NZS 4777.2 grid regulation, IEC 62109 and IEC 62040 safety standards, IEC 61000 EMC, and IEC 62619 for the battery module.
Warranty scopeGoodWe's AU/NZ warranty names LX F6.4-H-20 through LX F28.8-H-20 and provides 10 years of product and performance cover, subject to 70% retained capacity or the model-specific throughput limit. Freight and labour support in years 1-5 is conditional; years 6-10 cover hardware materials. The exact Australian datasheet lists a 10-year product warranty and 10-year battery-performance warranty for SMILE-G3-S5/B5 with BAT-9.3S. Alpha ESS Australia's current residential warranty terms name the SMILE-G3-S5 system, apply to installations from 1 November 2024, and are additional to Australian Consumer Law rights.
Grid compatibilityThis is a high-voltage battery that GoodWe documents for use with compatible EH and ET series hybrid inverters; compatibility and backup configuration must be verified for the paired inverter. The exact S5 inverter configuration is a 230 V single-phase hybrid system with a 5 kVA backup port, integrated anti-islanding and AS/NZS 4777.2 grid regulation. Final DNSP approval remains installation-specific.

Review noteGoodWe Australia publishes the exact V2.1 datasheet, current AU/NZ warranty and compatible EH/ET system guidance. The 6.4 kWh configuration is the scored reference; larger stacks are published as range, not score uplift. This is the current 9.3 kWh module configuration documented in AlphaESS Australia's April 2026 resource-centre material. It is distinct from the historical BAT-10.1P record retained elsewhere in the benchmark.

Australia purchase checks

Make the shortlist quote-ready

These checks sit beside the benchmark score. They are site, tariff and contract questions that no product score can settle.

  1. Lock the exact model and installation-date listing.

Ask for every model number to appear on the quote and order. The Clean Energy Council product lists are live: STC creation requires listed products at installation, and network requirements may also depend on current approval.

  2. Obtain the site-specific connection settings.

Have the retailer state the supply phase, inverter connection limit, export limit and any export-control cost. The local network connection agreement, not a generic datasheet, determines those settings. See the Australian Government's connection guidance.

  3. Test savings against the household, not a brochure.

Ask which bills or interval data, tariff, feed-in rate, export limit and future loads support the savings and payback claim. Self-consumed electricity and tariff timing usually matter more than a headline feed-in rate. See the system sizing and battery savings guidance.

  4. Specify the operating outcome.

Define the usable energy, output power, backed-up circuits and outage behaviour. Confirm whether VPP participation, an internet connection, or an additional controller changes the configuration, reserve level, warranty or support path.

  5. Name the party responsible after installation.

Keep the retailer, installer, manufacturer warranty and escalation path in the contract. Australian Consumer Law guarantees apply separately from any manufacturer warranty; where one business supplied both product and installation, it is generally responsible for the remedy. See the ACCC guidance.
