A vehicle compatibility list is not a manufacturer certification.
Sigenergy publishes a public field-test table listing 204 vehicle records across 44 brands as working with its bidirectional charger. On the same page, three footnotes state that no vehicle manufacturer has certified, endorsed or authorised those results. Both statements are the vendor's own. The distance between them is the part a buyer has to price.
The finding
A compatibility list records what a charger manufacturer observed in its own testing. A certification records what a vehicle manufacturer will support. These are different instruments, and only one of them is a commitment. Where a bidirectional charger lists a vehicle the carmaker has not publicly enabled for export, the list is evidence of a field test, not a supported feature, a warranty position, or a guarantee that the behaviour survives the next vehicle firmware update.
What is published
Sigenergy's "Global V2X Field Test Results" table is public and unauthenticated. It carries 204 vehicle records across 44 brands. Tesla is the largest single brand in the table at roughly 52 records, spanning Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. It leads Kia (17), BYD (13), Volvo (13) and Ford (12). The company markets the associated hardware (the SigenStor EV DC 25 kW "EV-Home Energy Bridge") as supporting 25 kW bidirectional charging, states that "Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) capabilities are officially available worldwide", and badges the product "World's 1st V2G EV-Home Bridge". What the same pages disclaim
The footnotes to the field-test table are explicit, and they are the most useful thing on it:
Because the vehicle manufacturer has not officially announced the V2X feature, these test results are independent and have not been recognized or certified by the manufacturer.
And, separately:

Read together, the table and its footnotes say something precise: the vendor observed the behaviour, and no carmaker stands behind it. The equipment side is settled in Australia. The vehicle side is not.
Australia now has a working regulatory pathway for the charger. AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 Amendment 2:2024 took effect on 23 August 2025 and contains clauses allowing Mode 3 and Mode 4 bidirectional electric vehicle charging. Mode 4, where the inverter sits in the wall-side equipment, falls under AS/NZS 4777.2 and is in scope of the Clean Energy Council's approved inverter list. Connection is real, not hypothetical. SA Power Networks states it was "the first electricity distributor in Australia to allow network connection of V2G EV chargers outside of trial conditions", subject to approved-inverter listing, state technical-regulator listing and per-phase capacity limits. Essential Energy declared a specific Sigenergy-and-Ford combination network-ready in April 2025 through its ordinary solar connection process. The asymmetry is the point. A bidirectional charger can be standards-compliant, CEC-listed and network-approved while the vehicle it is plugged into has no published position on exporting its battery. Approval of the equipment is not approval of the pairing.
Where the vehicle makers sit
Tesla documents one route to backing up a home from a vehicle: Powershare, which requires Tesla hardware, either a Universal Wall Connector and Powershare Gateway or an existing Powerwall and Wall Connector, installed by Tesla Certified Installers. Tesla states that "Powershare requires the installation of specific hardware to detect outages and deliver power from Cybertruck to your home and the grid", and the feature is currently listed for Cybertruck only. We record what Tesla publishes, which is a description of its own product. Tesla's public Powershare material does not address third-party bidirectional equipment, and we make no claim about its position on it.
The warranty question, and its limits
Buyers weighing a third-party bidirectional charger against a vehicle warranty should know that Australian Consumer Law sets a floor a warranty cannot lower. The ACCC states that "warranties can't replace, change or take away a consumer's basic rights", that a warranty against defects "is provided in addition to the consumer guarantees and does not limit or replace these rights", and that businesses "must not mislead consumers into thinking that their rights are limited to the remedies or timeframe set out in a warranty against defects". That floor is narrower than it first reads. Consumer guarantees surviving a third-party installation is not the same as every claim succeeding, and the ACCC material addresses repairs and servicing rather than damage attributable to attached third-party equipment. A guarantee that cannot be signed away is not a guarantee that a specific fault will be covered.
What this changes for a buyer
If bidirectional capability is a reason for the purchase, the question to put to a supplier is not whether the vehicle appears on a compatibility list. It is whether the vehicle manufacturer has published support for exporting from that model, in this market, and what happens to that capability when the vehicle updates. On the current public record, a listed vehicle and a supported vehicle are not the same status, and the charger vendor says so itself.
