Warranty period
Product warranty: 10 years
BYD warrants the Battery-Box Premium HVS 10.2 against defects in materials and workmanship for 10 years from commissioning, capped at 10 years from manufacture. Coverage requires installation, commissioning, and operation per BYD's published technical guidelines; service is fulfilled through BYD's authorised installer and distributor network in the relevant country.
Capacity retention guarantee: 10 years or 4,000 cycles
BYD guarantees at least 60% of rated usable energy capacity at end of the warranty period, subject to not exceeding 4,000 full equivalent charge-discharge cycles or 10 years, whichever occurs first. The threshold applies under standard operating conditions (0–50 °C charge / -10–50 °C discharge, as specified). If measured capacity falls below 60% of nominal usable capacity within the term and cycle limit, BYD will repair or replace affected modules at its discretion.
What’s covered
Defects in materials and workmanship
Covers manufacturing defects and failures in materials, cells, battery management electronics, and enclosure components causing operation outside published specifications. BYD will, at its sole discretion, repair or replace defective components or units: replacements may be new or refurbished to equivalent specification.
Battery Management System (BMS) and communications hardware
The integrated BMS, monitoring circuitry, and communication interfaces (CAN, RS485) carry the same 10-year product warranty. Software updates for ongoing compatibility are expected through the authorised installer or distributor channel, though software support for the full term is not explicitly guaranteed.
Exclusions
Labour and installation costs: Removal, reinstallation, freight, and associated labour costs for claims are not covered and remain with the system owner or their installer.
Damage from improper installation or use: Void for installation not complying with BYD's installation manual, use outside specified electrical or environmental parameters, or connection to non-approved hybrid inverters.
Physical damage and environmental events: Damage from flood, fire, lightning strike, rodents, vandalism, or any other external event is excluded: such events are matters for the owner's home or property insurance.
Capacity degradation within guaranteed thresholds: Normal capacity fade above the 60% retention threshold is not a warranty fault; gradual degradation is inherent to lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry and accounted for in the retention guarantee.
Inverter compatibility issues: Communication or performance issues with inverters not on BYD's published compatibility list are not covered; confirming compatibility before commissioning is the installer's responsibility.
Consumable parts: Consumable items: internal cooling components with defined service intervals and external cable assemblies not supplied by BYD: are excluded.
Transferability
Not automatically transferable to a subsequent property owner; ownership transfer and any continuation of coverage must be arranged with the authorised BYD distributor in the relevant country, subject to BYD's approval.
How to make a claim
Claims are initiated through the original installing company or an authorised BYD service partner; the installer lodges the claim with the local distributor: in Australia, BYD's appointed national distributors: who assesses it and coordinates repair or replacement. Retain the commissioning documentation, original invoice, and completed commissioning report, as these substantiate a claim. Australian warranty administration runs through the national distributor network; direct claims to BYD Co., Ltd. in China are not the standard pathway.
