Warranty period
12-year limited product warranty
CSI Solar warrants to the original buyer, for twelve years after the Warranty Start Date, that products are free from material and workmanship defects adversely affecting functionality under normal application, installation, use, and service. The buyer must demonstrate the malfunction results exclusively from such defects. Power output is addressed separately under the performance warranty.
25-year limited product warranty: residential rooftop (selected models)
For residential rooftop installations only, the term extends to twenty-five years for certain models, including CS6.2-66TM (Black Frame) covering the 620W range outside Japan. Standard limitations and exclusions apply; commercial and ground-mount installations revert to the 12-year term. A separate AU-specific warranty statement exists: confirm model eligibility with CSI Solar Australia.
30-year linear performance warranty
For thirty years from the Warranty Start Date, output at Standard Testing Conditions is warranted at no less than 99% of labelled power in year one, declining no more than 0.4% annually from year two, and no less than 87.4% by end of year thirty. Testing measurement uncertainty applies to all measurements.
What’s covered
Defects in materials and workmanship
Covers material and workmanship defects adversely affecting module functionality, including junction box, back sheet, glass, EVA encapsulant, and aluminium frame: under normal operating conditions per CSI Solar's installation manual.
Performance shortfall remedy
Where measured front-side output falls below the warranted level, CSI Solar may, at its option, repair or replace modules, supply additional modules to cover the wattage deficit, or refund the shortfall's fair market value. Replacements may be a similar model if the original is discontinued.
Transportation costs
Once a return is authorised, CSI Solar covers reasonable transport of affected modules to its designated location and return-shipping of repaired, replacement, or additional modules to the original installation. Insurance, taxes, duties, and customs clearance remain with the buyer.
Exclusions
Removal and reinstallation labour: Removal, installation, and reinstallation costs, including applicable e-waste levies: remain with the buyer unless CSI Solar separately agrees in writing.
Improper installation and shading: Void where modules suffered improper installation, unauthorised service, or system design causing constant shading or external stress.
Acts of nature, damage and tampering: Damage from power surges, flood, fire, lightning, vandalism, accidental breakage, acts of war, or other events outside CSI Solar's control is excluded: as are unauthorised repairs and tampering.
Relocation: Modules moved from their original installation location are excluded from coverage.
Unpaid products and missing documentation: Claims fail where full payment has not been received or the buyer cannot provide adequate proof of purchase, serial numbers, and supporting documentation.
Cosmetic changes and altered labels: Normal wear-and-tear cosmetic deterioration and any alteration, removal, or defacement of the product label, type, or serial number void warranty claims.
Transferability
Transferable to a party taking legal title to the products, provided they remain installed at the original installation location.
How to make a claim
