Product (materials and workmanship) warranty: 12 years
Hanwha Qcells warrants the Q.TRON XL-G2.3/BFG against defects in materials and workmanship for 12 years from original purchase, repairing or replacing defective modules at its discretion. The 12-year term is standard for Qcells' XL commercial utility series, as distinct from the 25-year product warranty on premium residential lines.
Linear performance warranty: 30 years
Guaranteed output: at least 98.5% of rated nominal power at end of year one, declining no more than 0.33% per year: at least 95.53% after 10 years and 88.93% after 30 years. The 30-year linear guarantee applies under standard test conditions and is independent of the 12-year product warranty.
What’s covered
Defects in materials and workmanship
Covers manufacturing defects in the cells, encapsulant, glass, frame, junction box, and connectors under normal operating conditions during the 12-year product warranty. Both surfaces of the bifacial construction are covered, subject to proper installation and handling.
Power output shortfall
If measured output under standard test conditions falls below the guaranteed linear thresholds, Qcells will provide replacement modules or a proportional credit over the 30-year performance term. Removal, reinstallation, and site costs are not included.
Exclusions
Removal and reinstallation labour: Removing or reinstalling modules is not covered, including scaffolding, access equipment, freight, and electrical reconnection: these remain the system owner's responsibility.
Damage from improper installation or misuse: Damage resulting from non-compliant installation, mechanical stress beyond rated load specifications, unauthorised modification, or operation outside the module's rated electrical parameters is excluded.
Force majeure and environmental damage: Damage caused by storms, hail, flooding, fire, lightning, or other events outside the manufacturer's control is excluded from both the product and performance warranty.
Degradation within warranted limits: Degradation within the guaranteed linear thresholds is not a defect; only output shortfalls below the guaranteed minimum at each annual checkpoint are actionable.
Transferability
Issued to the original purchaser and does not transfer to subsequent owners of the installation; Qcells' standard commercial warranty terms provide no formal transfer mechanism.
