Warranty period
25-year product warranty
Meyer Burger (Industries) GmbH warranted the Glass module against material and workmanship defects for 25 years from purchase, committing to repair, replace, or credit defective modules at its discretion. The glass-glass construction attracted the 25-year term: glass-backsheet variants in the same family carried 20 years.
30-year linear performance warranty
Warranted output: at least 99.0% of nameplate in the first year, with annual degradation from year two not exceeding 0.20%, a minimum 93.2% of nameplate by end of year 30. This linear guarantee, rather than a step-down structure, was a key differentiator at the time of sale.
What’s covered
Defects in materials and workmanship
Covered manufacturing defects and material failures: delamination, cell cracking from production processes, junction box failures, frame defects, other manufacturing faults. Affected modules were eligible for repair, replacement with a product of equivalent or higher performance, or a credit reflecting depreciated value.
Performance shortfall below guaranteed output
Where measured output under Standard Test Conditions fell below the guaranteed linear threshold, the shortfall was covered. Meyer Burger reserved the right to remedy by supplying additional modules covering the power deficit rather than replacing every underperforming unit.
Exclusions
Labour and reinstallation costs: Removal and reinstallation were explicitly excluded: all labour, freight, transport, and associated on-site claim costs were the customer's responsibility.
Damage from external causes: Damage attributable to accident, misuse, improper installation, grid surges, lightning, hail, storm, flood, fire, or other external forces was excluded from coverage.
Modifications and non-authorised repairs: Warranty was voided if modules were modified, repaired by unauthorised parties, or operated outside the parameters specified in the installation manual.
Normal degradation within guaranteed limits: Natural power loss within the guaranteed linear curve was not a warranty event: only output below the guaranteed minimum threshold at a given year triggered a claim.
Consequential and indirect loss: Liability for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including lost revenue, income, or savings from underperformance or failure: was explicitly excluded.
Transferability
Transferable to a subsequent owner of the original installation site, with notification to Meyer Burger required. The warranty remained tied to the original address and did not transfer to a new installation location.
How to make a claim
Meyer Burger (Industries) GmbH: warranty issuer for modules sold outside the Americas: filed for insolvency in Germany in June 2025, while Meyer Burger Technology AG entered Swiss debt restructuring. Meyer Burger Americas filed for Chapter 11 on 25 June 2025; its manufacturing assets went to Waaree Solar Americas in September 2025: equipment only, with no confirmed assumption of customer warranty obligations. The Chapter 11 plan took effect 30 April 2026, but as at June 2026 no entity has publicly confirmed it is honouring Australian warranty claims, so fulfilment for panels already installed in Australia is uncertain. Owners should document serial numbers, retain purchase records and installation certificates, and seek advice from their installer and, if necessary, the Clean Energy Regulator or Australian Consumer Law channels: ACL rights may apply independently of the manufacturer warranty.
