Warranty period
Standard product warranty
Standard 5-year product warranty from installation, extendable to 10 years. In Australia, SoFar Solar and its authorised distributors commonly register units for the 10-year term as the default at point of sale, making the effective period 10 years for most Australian consumers. Covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal operating conditions.
Extended warranty option
Extension to 10 years (from the 5-year base) is typically included at no cost when the product is registered through an authorised Australian installer within 30 days of commissioning. Some distributors offer further extension beyond 10 years at additional cost: confirm terms with the installer or distributor at purchase.
What’s covered
Defects in materials and workmanship
Covers manufacturing defects and material faults under normal residential use. SoFar Solar will, at its discretion, repair or replace the unit without charge for parts. Replacements may be new or functionally equivalent refurbished units.
Remote diagnostics and fault assessment
Remote fault diagnosis runs via the SolarmanPV platform; remotely confirmed defects trigger dispatch of a replacement unit or component. On-site attendance by a SoFar Solar technician is not guaranteed and depends on regional availability.
Exclusions
Labour and reinstallation costs: Removal of the faulty inverter and reinstallation of a replacement are not covered: the owner must arrange these through a licensed electrician at their own cost.
Physical damage and improper installation: Incorrect installation, unauthorised modification, physical impact, flooding, lightning strike, or connection to a supply outside rated specification is excluded.
Consumable and wear components: Internal cooling fans and certain capacitors may be classed as consumables; wear-related degradation alone may not constitute a claim if within expected service-life parameters.
Installation by unlicensed persons: Void if installed by a person without current Clean Energy Council accreditation or the equivalent electrical licence required under applicable Australian state regulations.
Damage from grid events: Grid-side overvoltage, sustained frequency anomalies, or utility supply faults are excluded unless damage results from a pre-existing manufacturing defect.
Transferability
Generally non-transferable: issued to the original end purchaser at the registered installation address. Coverage does not automatically transfer on property sale; buyers of second-hand properties should confirm remaining warranty status with the authorised distributor.
How to make a claim
Lodge claims through the authorised Australian distributor of purchase or SoFar Solar's Australian support channel, with proof of purchase, serial number, and commissioning date. Remote diagnostics via SolarmanPV may be requested before a replacement is dispatched. Removal and reinstallation labour is at the owner's expense. The standard term is 5 years, extended to 10 where registered through an authorised installer: confirm registration was completed at installation. Some distributors offer further paid extensions beyond 10 years.
