BTS 5K battery products, including the power module, are covered against defective materials or workmanship for 10 years from the warranty start date.
Performance warranty: 70%
The battery must retain 70% of usable energy for 10 years or 18.25 MWh of output, whichever occurs first.
What’s covered
Repair, replacement or calculated refund
SOFAR may repair, replace with a new or refurbished equivalent, or provide financial compensation under the warranty formulas.
Capacity-reference discrepancy disclosed
The warranty table uses 4.60 kWh usable energy for BTS 5K, while the January 2026 datasheet states 4.992 kWh usable capacity. The contractual 4.60 kWh warranty reference is the safer purchasing benchmark.
Exclusions
Approved system design: The battery must be used with a SOFAR inverter or another inverter confirmed compatible in advance.
Installation, storage and prolonged inactivity: Improper installation, storage, commissioning, repair, relocation and leaving the product unoperated for six months or more are excluded.
External damage: Transport damage, water or corrosive contamination, force majeure, physical abuse and vandalism are excluded.
Labour not stated: The battery warranty provides product remedies but does not promise removal, reinstallation, travel or installer labour.
Transferability
No express transfer mechanism for a subsequent property owner is published. Written confirmation should be obtained from SOFAR Australia for any ownership change.
How to make a claim
Claims are made through the authorised reseller with the invoice, serial number, installation date and logged throughput data. The Australian service centre may request failure analysis before approving a remedy.
