Warranty period
30-year product warranty
Solarwatt warrants Panel vision glass-glass modules free from defects in materials and workmanship for 30 years from the date of invoice to the end customer. For a confirmed defect, Solarwatt will: at its discretion: repair or replace the module and cover reasonable removal and reinstallation costs. The 30-year term is among the longest offered globally and reflects the double-glass construction, manufactured in Dresden, Germany.
30-year linear performance guarantee
Guaranteed output: no less than 99% of nominal in year one and at least 90% of nominal at end of year 30 under Standard Test Conditions, stepping down linearly between those endpoints, a maximum annual degradation of about 0.33% from year two. The linear structure lets customers calculate minimum expected output at any point in the 30-year term.
What’s covered
Manufacturing defects
Covers defects originating in Solarwatt's manufacturing: delamination, cell cracking from production faults, frame corrosion under normal conditions, and failure of junction box components. Modules must be installed per Solarwatt's instructions and used within specified operating parameters.
Removal, reinstallation, and transport costs
Unusually among published panel warranties, valid claims include the cost of removal, installation, repair, or replacement of modules: costs most other manufacturers reviewed on this site exclude. Transport to and from a Solarwatt service facility is also covered.
Performance shortfall
Where measured output falls below the guaranteed minimum for the module's age, Solarwatt will remediate by repair, replacement with a module of equal or greater output, or proportional credit. The replacement need not be the identical model, provided it meets or exceeds the warranted output at the relevant year.
Exclusions
Improper installation or use: Defects or damage from installation not complying with Solarwatt's instructions, use outside specified operating conditions, or modification of the modules are excluded.
Physical damage and external events: Excluded: accident, misuse, acts of God (hail, flooding, lightning, storm), fire, vandalism, or other external causes beyond normal operating conditions.
Normal soiling and weathering: Gradual soiling, minor UV discolouration, and normal weathering within the warranted degradation curve are not covered.
Third-party modifications: Modification, repair, or alteration by anyone other than Solarwatt or an authorised partner, without written consent, voids the warranty.
No Australian entity for claims: Solarwatt Technology Australia Pty Ltd (the local subsidiary) entered liquidation in February 2023, leaving no authorised Australian entity to process claims. Australian customers must pursue claims directly with Solarwatt GmbH in Germany, a practical enforcement barrier absent in markets where Solarwatt remains active.
Transferability
Transfers automatically to any subsequent owner of the modules for the remainder of the term, with the new owner assuming End Customer status. No formal registration is required, though Solarwatt recommends notification of ownership changes.
How to make a claim
IMPORTANT: Solarwatt exited the Australian market in 2022; its local subsidiary, Solarwatt Technology Australia Pty Ltd, entered liquidation in February 2023, and CEC product listings expired in September 2024. Australian owners have no local claims entity and must deal directly with Solarwatt GmbH in Dresden, Germany.
