Warranty period

Product warranty period

Warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for ten (10) years from the warranty effective date: the earlier of four months from shipment from Hoymiles or the actual installation date. The unit must be installed within six months of the invoice date for validity.

Performance (capacity retention) warranty period

For Europe-series HB-4020-AC units, Hoymiles warrants at least 70% of the 4.02 kWh designed energy for ten years or until 27.2224 MWh granted throughput is reached, whichever comes first. Published usable energy is 3.62 kWh at 90% depth of discharge.

What’s covered

Manufacturing defects

Covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal operating conditions. Remedy is product exchange: replacement with a new or refurbished device of equivalent specification.

Capacity degradation below threshold

If usable energy falls below 70% of designed capacity before the ten-year performance period or granted throughput threshold is reached, Hoymiles provides a replacement under the Exchange Program.

Replacement shipping costs

For approved exchanges, Hoymiles covers shipping of the replacement to the customer or distributor location, plus collection and return of the faulty unit where it must go back to a Hoymiles warehouse.

Authorised on-site repair

Where Hoymiles elects on-site repair with its own authorised technician, it bears materials, labour, and removal and reinstallation of the affected part or unit. On-site service without prior written authorisation is not reimbursed.

Exclusions

Labour and commissioning costs: A product replacement warranty only: removal, reinstallation, recommissioning, and the cost of the distributor or installer dispatching their own technicians are excluded unless Hoymiles separately authorised and directed that on-site service in writing.

Improper installation or operation: Defects from installation, commissioning, or operation contrary to Hoymiles' installation guide and specifications are excluded, including inadequate ventilation, direct sunlight, rain or snow exposure, and operation outside the rated -20°C to 55°C range.

Force majeure and environmental events: Storm, lightning strike, over-voltage, fire, flood, civil unrest, and other events outside Hoymiles' reasonable control are excluded.

Unauthorised repair or removal: Repair attempts without Hoymiles' authorisation, or unauthorised removal and reinstallation, void the warranty for that claim.

Cosmetic and superficial damage: Normal wear to appearance, including dents, scratches, marks, and other superficial defects that do not affect normal operation, are not covered.

Cross-region sale: Units sold outside their certified market region are excluded. Eligibility elsewhere requires prior submission of local compliance certification and written confirmation from Hoymiles.

Unauthorised dealer purchase: Units purchased from a dealer, distributor, or retailer not authorised by Hoymiles are excluded from warranty coverage.

Late fault reporting: A failure that is not reported to Hoymiles within one month of it occurring is excluded from warranty coverage.

Third-party component damage: Damage from defects in components or equipment not supplied by Hoymiles is excluded; ancillary devices carry their own manufacturer's warranty.

Transferability

Transferable to a subsequent owner only if the product stays at the original location. The previous owner must email Hoymiles an authorisation containing the account username and password.

How to make a claim

Lodge claims through the authorised installer or distributor: end-users contact their installer first. The distributor contacts the Hoymiles Technical Service Centre with the original purchase invoice, system schematic, any prior RMA documentation, and evidence of the defect (photos, video, system logs). Hoymiles issues a case number and, if approved, ships a replacement at its cost. A Hoymiles-authorised installer must attend the exchange and re-commissioning. Labour, travel, and commissioning costs are covered only if Hoymiles elects to dispatch its own authorised technician.
