Warranty period
25-year product (materials and workmanship) warranty
JA Solar warrants DeepBlue 4.0 Pro n-type TOPCon modules against material and workmanship defects for 25 years from the warranty start date, up from 12 years on earlier p-type PERC lines, reflecting n-type TOPCon reliability. For confirmed defects JA Solar will, at its sole discretion, repair, replace, provide a pro-rated refund based on current market price and remaining warranty period, or offer another mutually agreed remedy.
30-year linear performance warranty
Warranted output: at least 98% of nameplate at end of year one, with annual degradation not exceeding 0.4% thereafter, no less than approximately 87.4% of original nameplate by end of year 30. The linear structure steps the guaranteed minimum down predictably each year rather than offering a single end-point guarantee, protecting output across the system's full operating life.
What’s covered
Defects in materials and workmanship
Covers manufacturing defects: cell quality faults, encapsulant failure, delamination, frame defects, junction box failures: under normal operating conditions. Modules failing warranted output due to covered defects are remedied by repair, replacement, or pro-rated compensation at JA Solar's discretion.
Power output shortfall
If measured output falls below the warranted minimum at any point in the 30-year term, the customer may lodge a claim. JA Solar may replace the underperforming module, provide a partial refund calculated on remaining term and current market price, or supply agreed compensation.
Exclusions
Removal and reinstallation labour: Removal and reinstallation costs are borne entirely by the customer. JA Solar's remedy covers the modules only, no labour, scaffolding, freight, or access costs.
Physical damage and external causes: Damage from accident, misuse, neglect, lightning, storm, hail, flooding, fire, or other external events is excluded from both warranties. Acts of nature and force majeure are not covered.
Improper installation or unauthorised modification: Void if modules are installed by non-qualified personnel contrary to JA Solar's installation requirements, or subjected to unauthorised modification, repair, or alteration. Installation must comply with applicable standards and local regulations.
Normal soiling, shading, and environmental performance variation: Output loss from soiling, dust, bird droppings, shading, or environmental factors beyond the manufacturer's control is not a warranty event. Coverage extends to cell and module degradation only, not site- or installation-related losses.
Cosmetic defects not affecting performance: Minor cosmetic issues: slight discolouration, surface scratches, frame marks, not affecting electrical output are generally excluded from warranty claims.
Transferability
Transferable to a new installation owner on written notice to JA Solar, provided modules remain at the original site, the assignee accepts the full terms, and no payment obligations are outstanding. Not otherwise assignable.
How to make a claim
In Australia, contact JA Solar's local office first: service.au@jasolar.com or +61 (0)2 8328 0488: with proof of purchase, installation records, and photographs of the alleged defect. Where the original installer still operates, lodge through them. JA Solar arranges inspection and, if confirmed, remedies at its sole discretion: repair, replacement, pro-rated refund, or agreed compensation. The customer bears all removal, reinstallation, and freight costs.
