Warranty period
Product warranty period
Covers defects in materials and workmanship for 10 years from installation by an authorised installer, or 10,000 complete charge/discharge cycles, whichever comes first: across all components: battery modules and cells, inverter, power electronics, and energy manager.
Capacity retention guarantee
Guarantees usable capacity will not fall below 80% of the nominal capacity on the technical data specification sheet. Below that threshold within the term, sonnen repairs or replaces the affected modules.
What’s covered
Components covered
Covers all system components: battery module and cells, inverter, power electronics, balance-of-system components, energy management unit: for defects from faulty materials or workmanship under normal operating conditions.
Labour and travel costs
Transport, travel and labour on an eligible claim are included, subject to a combined cap of AUD $200 per claim: costs above it are the customer's. Australian Consumer Law guarantees may provide additional remedies.
Australian Consumer Law
Goods come with non-excludable Australian Consumer Law guarantees. Faults or defects within the period are repaired or replaced by sonnen or its Authorised Partner. Major failure: replacement or refund, plus compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
Exclusions
Internet connectivity: Without internet connection or required software updates, sonnen does not warrant against defects attributable to missing firmware. Continuous online access to sonnen's servers is a condition of the warranty.
Normal wear and tear: Excludes normal wear and tear and gradual capacity loss above the 80% retention threshold: degradation staying above that floor is not a warrantable defect.
Improper installation or unauthorised repair: Damage from non-authorised installation, unauthorised modifications, or repairs by persons other than sonnen or its Authorised Partners voids the warranty.
Misuse, accidents, and environmental damage: Excludes damage from misuse, accidents, operation outside rated specifications, flooding, extreme weather, or other external environmental factors beyond normal operating conditions.
Non-residential or non-approved use: The warranty applies to residential installations only. Use in commercial, industrial, or other non-approved applications is excluded from coverage.
Transferability
No automatic transfer to a subsequent purchaser: transfer requires sonnen's prior written consent, which sonnen states will not be unreasonably withheld. Second-hand buyers should obtain written confirmation of transfer from sonnen before settlement.
How to make a claim
The registered owner contacts sonnen Australia or an Authorised Partner with proof of purchase, commissioning documentation and defect details. Valid claims: made within the warranty period: are remedied by repair or replacement. The AUD $200 cap on combined labour and travel means out-of-pocket expenses may arise even on a successful claim.
