Warranty period
25-year product warranty
Tesla warrants TSP-420 modules free from defects in design and materials for 25 years from installation. For a covered failure, Tesla will: at its sole discretion: repair or replace the affected modules; repaired or replaced modules remain within the original 25-year term.
25-year linear performance warranty
Guaranteed output: at least 98.0% of rated peak power one year after installation, then no more than 0.45% annual decline from Year 2, a minimum of about 93.9% at Year 10 and no less than 87.2% at Year 25, calculated against the nameplate rated peak power printed on the module.
10-year labour reimbursement
Within the first 10 years, where Tesla determines repair or replacement is warranted, reasonable labour costs are reimbursed to the Tesla Certified Installer performing the work under Tesla's standard policies. Labour coverage ends at year 10 from installation.
What’s covered
Defects in design and materials
Covers manufacturing defects and failures from defects in the module's design and materials: structural failures, delamination, and electrical faults attributable to manufacturing rather than external causes.
Power output below guaranteed threshold
Output below the warranted thresholds: 98% of rated power at Year 1 or the linear degradation floor thereafter: is a covered warranty event; Tesla will repair, replace, or credit the affected modules.
Labour reimbursement (first 10 years)
Labour by a Tesla Certified Installer to remove and reinstall modules for a valid repair or replacement is reimbursed for the first 10 years from installation, provided work follows Tesla's standard policies.
Exclusions
Physical damage and misuse: Damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, improper installation (by non-certified installers), unauthorised modification, or operation outside Tesla's specified environmental parameters is excluded from coverage.
Theft and vandalism: Loss or damage resulting from theft or vandalism is explicitly excluded from the limited warranty.
Force majeure and external events: Damage from natural disasters, severe weather, lightning, flooding, fire, or other external forces beyond Tesla's control is not covered.
Non-certified installer: Labour reimbursement applies only to work performed by a Tesla Certified Installer; work by uncertified parties may void the labour component.
Geographic limitation: North America only: The published warranty (NA-EN) covers the North American market only: Tesla solar panels, including the TSP-420, are not currently available in Australia. Claims are governed by the laws of the US state of installation.
Transferability
Transferable to subsequent owners of the property; a new owner must provide Tesla proof of ownership to claim. The remaining term passes to the new owner and does not reset on transfer.
How to make a claim
Contact Tesla as soon as reasonably practicable after discovering a defect, providing name, address, a description of the failure, and supporting photographs; Tesla assesses the claim and determines the remedy. Note: the TSP-420 is a US-market product manufactured in Buffalo, NY, and is not currently available or warranted in Australia: confirm local availability and consumer law protections before purchase.
