Battery warranties · Living benchmark

A battery warranty is a term, a throughput limit and a company standing behind both.

A ten-year label can conceal four materially different contracts. The battery may hit a throughput ceiling first, finish the term with a lower retained-capacity promise, exclude labour, or rely on a manufacturer whose financial position has changed. This report reads those conditions separately across 28 active home-battery records and rebuilds when the catalogue changes.

Counts use the current warranty-period criterion for 28 active battery records. A term count does not imply identical throughput, retained-capacity or remedy coverage. Generated from the review.solar dataset on 2026-07-26.

What the headline omits

Five checks determine how much of the promise survives a claim

  1. 01
    Duration

20 of 28 term rows are directly linked. The calendar term should resolve to the exact warranty document, not a reseller summary.

  2. 02
    Throughput

26 of 28 records publish a state. A cycle or MWh ceiling can end coverage before the nominal year.

  3. 03
    Retention

26 of 28 records publish a state. End-of-term retained energy determines what degradation the warranty actually tolerates.

  4. 04
    Remedy

Parts, labour and transport differ. A replacement part is not the same economic promise as removal, freight and reinstallation.

  5. 05
    Backing

2 active financial-risk notes. A long obligation is only as useful as the entity expected to honour it.

These checks are displayed separately because the scoring criterion values and their evidence states are not interchangeable.

The comparison

The table is intentionally dense. It lets a buyer compare the contract before opening a scorecard, while every product name returns to the full evidence trail.

What moves when the catalogue changes

Counts, charts and rows come from the current vendored dataset. A new battery, a revised warranty document, a source-link correction or a manufacturer-backing update will move this page on the next publication build. Historical warranty text should still be checked against the purchase date and installed model.

How to use it

  • Match the exact model and region before relying on a term.
  • Read the earliest-of conditions for calendar years, cycles and energy throughput.
  • Check retained capacity at the end of the term, not only the duration.
  • Price labour, transport and access costs that the remedy does not cover.
  • Review manufacturer backing as a separate risk from product performance.
